Good Works! Charity Spotlight: The Family Place

Since October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we wanted to take this opportunity to spotlight one of our charity partners – The Family Place.

The Family Place was founded in 1978 and is now the largest family violence service provider in the Dallas area.  The mission of The Family Place is to eliminate family violence through proactive prevention and intervention, extensive community education, caring advocacy and assistance for victims and their families.

Since 1978, The Family Place has counseled more than 180,000 clients, provided life-saving shelter to more than 19,000 women, children and men, and answered more than 475,000 calls for help.  In 2011, the Dallas Police Department Family Violence Unit reported 13,733 family violence calls resulting in 1,239 aggravated assaults, 16 murders, 11,529 assaults, 127 offenses against children, 66 rapes and 632 other related offenses, including kidnapping, stalking, vandalism and robbery.

High Profile is honored to be associated with such a wonderful organization.  This year, through our Good Works! program, we have had the opportunity to sponsor and/or volunteer at events for The Family Place and we look forward to many more in the future.  Some of the events we have participated in this year are:

    • Too Cold To Hold 5K run/walk
    • Partners Card Kick-off party and seller parties
    • Back to School supply drive for the children in the shelters
    • Texas Trailblazer luncheon, which focused on raising awareness on ‘Bullying in our Schools’
